I got a large percentage of the right tank riveted today - lots of progress! Yesterday I prosealed the interior ribs into the right tank and clecoed them with a cleco in every hole. Then tonight, I came out and sealed and set exactly 170 rivets into the right tank. I got all the interior ribs in there for good. I did all this by myself but I think I moved expeditiously and accurately. All the rivets were set with a tungsten bucking bar and the flush set in the rivet gun. It took a little getting used to but they all came out really great - not one rivet needed to be drilled out and not one smiley in the skin! It came in handy being 6'4" because my long arms made it manageable to get the rivets in the nose. After I set all five interior ribs on the right tank, I sealed the interior ribs into the left tank (no pictures, it's just a repeat of yesterday). I still need to put a filet of sealant around the ribs in the right tank and cover the shop heads of the rivets. Great night on the project! A shot of the interior all riveted in place. ...and the exterior.
