I started out today by testing my cheapo HID lights I got off eBay for $35. I just hooked them up to my car battery. I know it doesn't look like it in this picture because it's daytime but boy are these things bright! ![]() Then I came inside and cut out the template from Duckworks for the leading edge cutout and taped it ever-so-carefully to the appropriate spot on the leading edge like so. ![]() Then I traced out the cutout location. ![]() After doing this for both wings, it hit me that the blue stuff was still on. Quick work with the soldering iron took care of the blue stuff and then I retraced the cutout onto the bare aluminum. It went a little quicker after doing the practice run on the blue plastic... ![]() Now it's ready to be cut out. I'm a little anxious about cutting gaping holes in my leading edge so I measured about 46 times just to be sure. Then I went and looked at other peoples' leading edge cutouts to see if they matched up with where I had mine marked. They do. Tomorrow I will tackle cutting the holes.
