Tonight I match drilled the hinge brackets to the HS rear spar. These will become the attach points for the elevators to the HS. Then I drilled the center bearing and bracket and primed the bearing being careful not to get any primer inside the bearing (I just covered it with masking tape). I am just using Napa 7220 self-etching primer, which is fairly cheap and handily comes in a spray can. The great thing about this stuff is it dries within minutes. To prime, I just clean the part in the sink, go out the front door and shoot the part quickly, then come back inside and let it dry which takes about two minutes. You're supposed to prime when it's above 50ish degrees but as my first winter in Ohio has so far shown me, I'm not going to see 50 degrees again for a long, long time so for now I think this method will suffice. After it's been drilled and primed, it's time to set the first rivets of the project! Here's the result: Not too shabby if I say so myself, and I do. A lot of time spent tonight and not too much to show for it. As I progress, I hope to get a little faster at building...
