I got a jump on fluting the ribs this afternoon. When the ribs are formed at the factory, the process leaves them pretty badly warped so they don't lay flat but more importantly the holes won't line up. To remedy this, you flute the ribs to get them to lay flat and get the holes all in a straight line. My method was to flute with a medium squeeze in between every other hole on both sides, then go back and flute more in the places that needed it. Worked pretty reliably and pretty quickly. Here the fluted nose ribs are on the left and the un-fluted nose ribs are on the right. Here are the main ribs before fluting: And after a fair amount of fluting:
