Wings :: Wing
Made leading edge cradle, clecoed in nose ribs
2 Hours

Today, I started out by drilling out and redoing seven rivets from the spars and ribs which were pretty terrible, it only took about 25 minutes. Then I commenced to cut up the lid of the big wing box to make a leading edge cradle. I knew I kept that thing around for something! Here's the completed cradle.

Then I put the right leading edge in the cradle.

...and then proceeded to fight with the stupid blue stuff for about 10 minutes on each of the leading edges before I finally got it taken off.

Next came the clecoing in of the leading edge ribs. This is where the cradle makes its money; it's like having three extra sets of arms. Even with the cradle holding the skin in shape, the ribs are still a very tight fit and it's quite challenging to get them clecoed in there.

Also, I put in the inboard rib and marked where the holes roughly will be (it's not predrilled) and then fluted it so it's no longer warped. Here's a parting shot of the right leading edge. I couldn't do the other side tonight because my order of clecos has not arrived yet. Actually I had to steal some clecos from the wing skins to even get this leading edge done. Anyway, I feel like I got some pretty decent work on the project in tonight. Now I'm down to waiting for the UPS guy for the next few days.
