All I did today was make those stupid tank brackets! What a TON of work these things take... Here's the finished products. What I used to make them was I cut them out of the original piece of angle with a hack saw. Then I chopped off the corners with the saw to get a very rough 2nd order approximation of the final shape. Then I moved from grinder to saw to Dremel to file and on and on. If you are making your own, skip all those and use either a band saw or a jig saw to cut the curves. I used a jig saw and it did a pretty fine job. After they were cut with the jig saw, I put the pieces back-to-back and filed them down to the same size and shape. They aren't the prettiest things I've ever made but they will definitely work. ![]() Here is the carnage on the workbench after making the brackets. ![]() Then I eyeballed some places to drill the requisite holes. They give a pattern but no specifics on locations. These looked good to me. ![]() And here they are both drilled but only with a #40. I will enlarge them with a #30 when I drill the rib and back side piece. ![]() At this point I called it a night because I was tired of looking at and working with those damn brackets.
