Wings :: Tanks
Riveted right baffle to skin
1.5 Hours

I had a pretty quick night in the garage tonight because I went to an EAA Chapter 48 meeting earlier. When I got to work, I found that some proseal had seeped into the baffle-to-skin rivet holes. Normally this is not an issue but since I had let it sit for a couple days, the sealant had cured to the point where the rivets could not smush it flat and sit flush. To fix it, I spent about 30 minutes cleaning out all the holes with an awl so the rivets would sit flush. Then I went to town setting the rivets with the squeezer. 132 rivets in total tonight and they were set in probably about an hour or less. Here's the tank with all the baffle-to-skin rivets set.

I didn't continue tonight because I need to grind down my rivet puller so I can get the blind rivets that attach the Z-brackets to the baffle set. This tank is so close to being done I can actually see the end!
