It's been a while since I've been in the garage doing work since I've been on the landing lights and then overhauling the website. I've finished up the leading edges and tanks so the next step is to put them on the spar. The spar is too thick to dimple so it needs to be countersunk. Here the top row of countersinks is where the leading edge will attach to the spar and the bottom row is where the skin attaches. I had to countersink a TON of holes tonight. Just to put it in perspective, here's a shot down the spar. The top row of countersinks stops halfway down the spar but the bottom row goes all the way down it. This is (one side of a spar)x(two sides per spar)x(two spars total)=a ridiculous amount of holes... I just looked at it as lightening the plane with every countersink which will give just that little bit more performance! I finally put the leading edges and tanks back on, mainly to get them out of my living room. They fit really good still. So I got that going for me, which is nice. I'll take the leading edges and tanks back off tomorrow so I can prime the countersinks. Then I'll inspect the spar one last time and smooth any scratches, then I'll rivet the leading edges on!
