I drilled the aileron spar doublers yesterday so today I deburred them, dimpled them, primed them, and then riveted them on to the spar. You can only do a few of the rivets at this point because the rest need to be left open because they get attached to either the nose rib or the aileron rib. In the shot below, there should be two more rivets set but I got shorted a K1000-3 nutplate so only the left aileron spar has that one right now. It'll probably be $0.03 for the nutplate and I'd guess $6 for and a week long wait for the shipping... If that's all my bad luck for Friday the 13th I guess I made it out alright. Here's the tip end. Even without the nutplate, I should be able to do quite a lot on the left aileron until it gets here. If I finish that up I guess I'll start on the flaps or maybe riveting on the bottom skins. With all the thousands of pieces in this kit, I'd say it's pretty dang good that one nutplate is all I've been shorted - well done Van!
