PreparationOrdered the wings!
I've been dragging my feet on finishing the empennage and ordering the wings because I don't have the perfect situation for storing or building them. Upon deeper thought, I surmised that there won't ever be a "perfect" time to build them, there will always be some little inconvenience or nuisance that makes the situation less than ideal, but if I just lose my mind one afternoon and go ahead and order them, I will have to deal with it. So, I guess today was the day I lost my mind. In two months (late July 2011), I'll have the wing kit sitting in my living room! The anticipation of the wings should keep me motivated for the build process as well as give me a strong impetus to get into a house and out of the apartment. The timing for the arrival of the wings coincides perfectly with the end of my lease (ends in July) so with any luck I can get the wings, move, and get these babies underway by August!
The only choice that you have to make on the wings is capacitive or floating fuel level sensors. I went with the capacitive sensors because there are no moving parts to break after they've been in use for a while, and the indicated fuel level won't change with the sloshing of the fuel in the tank. Since they only cost $6 more than the floating sensors, it seemed like a no-brainer to me.
