Wings :: TanksRiveted tank rib tip reinforcements
1.5 Hours
I had visions of getting lots done on the tanks today but alas it did not happen that way. In fact, I didn't even get any pictures of the work I actually did. Air Force beating Navy in overtime (after we tried our best to blow it), Texas Tech coming from behind and beating Kansas, and the Texas Rangers beating Tampa Bay to even the series got in the way!
So what did I actually get done today? On the inboard and outboard tank ribs, there are these little pieces that fit the curve of the nose of the rib that go on the insides of the end ribs and then there are the beefy angle pieces that go on the outside of the inboard ribs (I think those are how the tank gets attached to the fuselage). I got these six pieces riveted in today (three per tank). It wasn't too big of a deal, just slather a thin layer of sealant on the mating surface and then shoot and buck the rivets. Quick day but still moving close to finishing the tanks. Pictures from the next work session will probably show the pieces I riveted in today so check there to clear things up.
