Got back in the garage today to finish up the last few tasks on the tanks before they get closed up. Yesterday I riveted on the tank end rib tip reinforcement pieces. I'm not sure of their purpose but I think it might be to help seal the nose of the ribs because there are lots of holes and gaps there from the rib forming process. Anyway, I sealed those bad boys up along with the whole end ribs. Here you can see the piece of aluminum angle that goes on the inboard rib tip. I squirted with my paper funnel a TON of proseal in the gap between the edges of the angle and the skin. Also note the shop heads have been covered all the way down the rib. ![]() The piece that goes on the inside of the tip of the end ribs is just a flat double piece basically. I also put a ton of proseal here along the leading edge to fill all the gaps. I also made a "generous" fillet of sealant everywhere the rib meets the skin. ![]() Here is the outside of the outboard rib. Shop heads covered, leading edge swimming in sealant. Filleting the inside rib-skin joint here was kinda tough and a little sloppy as access in the outboard bay sucks due to it only being roughly as wide as my fist but I got it done. ![]() Inside, I twisted and prosealed the fuel sender wire to the vent tube to keep it from rubbing or something. Mainly because it said to do it in the directions. ![]() And in the outboard fuel tank bay where the vent tube ends, I bent the end of the tube up so that its opening sits at the highest part of the tank. I forgot to proseal it to its little clip there underneath the fuel cap so I'll have to remember to do that when I mix some up to put the baffles on. Just a dab oughta do it. ![]() This took longer than I expected it to but it's done. Next thing to do is close these puppies up!
